Before submitting any topics, essays or comments, please read our Editorial Overview.
All submissions for future topics, essays, or comments to essays must be made by email. All topics will be screened by the editors of A Civil Disagreement. Only those topics, essays and comments that are clearly written, well-thoughtout, unbiased, not motivated by a political agenda and can stimulate a thoughtful exchange of ideas will be considered.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to summarily reject any submission due to inappropriate, offensive, illegal, obscene or even questionable material.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to reject any submission that is poorly written and not clearly presented.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to reject any submission that is biased to a specific political viewpoint.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to reject any submission that is motivated by a political agenda.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to reject any submission from politicians, political opperatives, agenda people, spin doctors or anyone else that shows overly biased views to a political organization, party or candidate.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to modify submissions for futures topics as needed to ensure a thoughtful discussion. Highly edited topics will be noted.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to modify submissions for essays to correct spelling and grammer. A Civil Disagreement will, to the best of our abilities, review and confirm all modifications with the author of the essay.
- If a comment to an essay contains inappropriate material yet also contains thoughtful or thought-provoking commentary, A Civil Disagreement may still publish an edited version or this comment. A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to modify these submissions to correct spelling and grammer and to remove any material we deem inappropriate for this venue. Highly edited comments will be noted.
- A Civil Disagreement reserves the right to remove any hypertext links or references to any inappropriate, political or commercial websites. A Civil Disagreement may leave specific links, including those to relevant educational websites, as considered appropriate.
Process for Submitting Topics, Essays & Comments
To submit a topic, essay or comments, please send an email to our editors. (Click Here!) You may also submit comments to previous comments. We will continue to maintain and archive all topics, essays and comments.
For ALL submissions, please include the following information:
- Name or screen name to display online. You may abbreviate first or last name. At your request, we can display your name as "Anonymous."
- Email address.
For future topics, also include:
- Future topic — Please limit your topic to one or two paragraphs.
For essays, also include:
- Additional contact information — Phone number (home & cell phone).
- Essay — Please limit your essay to a page, if possible. A Civil Disagreement will, to the best of our abilities, try to accomodate longer essays, if necessary.
For comments, also include:
- Month & essay title if you are not responding to this month's question.
- Comment — Please limit your comments to one or two paragraphs. A Civil Disagreement will, to the best of our abilities, try to accomodate longer comments, if necessary.
